Good for making rings to line up for another hole punch
1 of 1 found this helpful Can you make a hole with it? Eventually, yes but not in just one go or in ten minutes. You will have to go back and forth, back and forth quite a few times, starting with the smallest and then gradually increasing in size. You will have to from both sides of the leather, turning and twisting as you go along. No amount of strength is going to create a hole on the first or even tenth time.
You have to be very patient and it will not be a clean hole in the end. The cutting ridges are clearly not sharp enough and do not fit into the other end to separate the leather around the hole. Not really much better than using a hammer and nail or a drill. I did eventually create three holes in three different men's leather dress belts but I wouldn't want to do this on a regular basis. Maybe on a very, very, very thin piece of a lightweight material, perhaps silk, it might cut a bit better and take less back and forth effort but I am not sure. As for leather, it might be worth buying something better made.

Good size, reasonably priced, does the trick.
Only caveat I would say is that if you had an older model, for some reason, I believe they changed the batteries from AA to 9 volt and the width of the two hanging screws on the back widened so you will have to redrill another hole.
