Inspiring Story of Leadership, Respect , Bravery , Hardship and Courage .

A truly inspiring Story of courage , leadership , trust and bravery . Richard ( Dick ) Winters never claimed to be Hero, without him and the men who took part in the Longest Day the world would never have survived, Navies, Air Forces , Commandos, Airborne, Rangers and Armies of the World , not to forget the brave French Resistance and citizens of Occupied Countries , pushing a bitter Enemy back across the Rhine. Sad explanations about the German soldiers who , like the Allies only wanted to live life in peace . The men in this book gave all so we would live better lives , a reminder that young men are called to fight for our Freedom . I had the fortune to write him many years ago and thank him before he passed away and he amazingly replied . Winters was and still is , truly inspiring . Winter's tactics and leadership silenced artillery firing directly onto Utah Beach , many of those brave men on the beach later learned of the 101'st / 506 PIR efforts and wrote to Dick after the War thanking him and his men . The English family who Winters was billeted with treated him like their own , he honours them many times in these Memoirs . I cannot say enough about this wonderful man or the contents of the book written with the assistance of Colonel Cole Kingseed which corrects many actions and chapters of Band of Brothers written earlier by Stephen Ambrose . There are some additional facts about Herbert Sobel which are a light side to this book . This is a must read for any Historian or individual wanting Leadership tips in todays world ,no matter what Job they have . God Bless all who served , thank-you Dick . Peter : Australia .
