Roadsafe Recovery Points
These are certainly very solid recovery points for my Ford Everest. This is my second Everest I’ve put them on. There were a few problems with my second one however. The chassis rails have an extra piece of steel welded to the outside of each side. This requires a bit of modification of the mounting boss on each recovery point. They have a technical bulletin about this in the box, but one thing missing is the installation instructions. They refer us to the Roadsafe website, but the instructions have been removed. Luckily I still had a copy from my first Everest. They need to sort this out. One major stumbling block: their bulletin doesn’t mention that the hole on the inside of the chassis rail on my new Everest is too small to allow the Nuts On Wires to pass through. I had to grind the corners of the nuts a bit, so they’d fit through the holes. Perhaps this is why the installation instructions have been removed from the website.
To summarise: it was a very frustrating experience, but now I know what to do, it’d be a lot easier. I’m really pleased I have them on however, especially now when we’re exploring the rough sandy tracks of Fraser Island.
