THE Peter
This is a useful and inspiring biography of Philip Heseltine, who wrote music and about music. He used the alias "Peter Warlock."
His life was tragic, given that he almost certainly took his own life. He was apparently often very difficult to get along with.
For me, the music he composed is the compelling thing. It is unique, for it combines early 20th Century harmonies with deeply understood features of the music of earlier times. Peter Warlock was a scholar, and a fine composer.
This biography is long, detailed, and compelling.

Interesting music by played by a coming mega-star
Khatia Buniatishvili is one of the most celebrated newish pianists. In BBC Music Magazine and Pianist Magazine, she has recently been featured copiously.
It is easy, perhaps, to be skeptical, noticing how attractive the pianist is, and how outgoing.
This recording shows her true value. She has contributed some music from her Georgian home-land, and has also unearthed several other piano pieces that are less than widely known.
Most importantly, she plays it all with spirit.
