Great lens quality for the money!
I'll start with the build quality of this Sigma DC 18-35 mm F/1.8 HSM DC Lens. In short is superb! The zoom and focus rings are well ribbed, comfortable and turn smoothly with just the right amount of drag for quick accurate adjustments. The overall feel of the lens is of a high quality. Nothing seems cheap or flimsy. With the zoom and focusing all being internal there is much less chance of dust or grit entering the lens barrel. The lens hood is even a nice piece, not quite up to Nikon or Canon quality but for this price it's great and effective. The picture quality, sharpness and color quality are as good as any of my Nikkor lenses with no vignetting. So far I've seen absolutely no chromatic aberration in contrasting areas in the edges of my photos. This lens is a bit heavy but that's to be expected for a lens made of high quality glass. It actually gives my Nikon D7100 some nice balance, probably due to the camera being so light. I wish Sigma would make a comparable lens for the full frame cameras. Overall I'm very pleased with the performance of this lens. The large available aperture provides nice soft blurred backgrounds. I would recommend this lens to anyone looking for a super fast zoom. Of course you could buy an AF-S NIKKOR 28mm f/1.8G for about the same price and just zoom the old fashioned way, with your feet. And it would be lighter too.

Almost Perfect
While the quality an finish is very good it's not the exact parts that came with my bike. Also it would be nice to get new fasteners and aluminum inserts with the new plastics.

Great bargain, great camera
2 of 2 found this helpful The Nikon F100 35mm SLR camera is probably the best bang for your buck available today. It may not have all the features of the F6 or even the F5 but at about 1/2 the cost of a good used F5 it has all the features any of us need and will use as many or more of the Nikkor lenses. It's not only lighter than an F5 but anyone familiar with Nikon's family of DSLR's will feel right at home with the controls. I can go from my D700 or D7100 to my F100 and know right where everything is controlled from. The only real problem for me is now that I'm so used to digital, it's hard to reign in the shutter clicks when using film. In the old days I'd have to take my time composing, exposing, focusing etc. that now I've almost become lazy with bracketing and 'free film' with digital. Especially since my particular f100 has the MB-15 grip. I'm so tempted to set it on Cs (CH on the digital cameras) and fire away at 8FPS.
Overall I would recommend this camera for anyone looking to start shooting film with a relatively advanced SLR on a budget. It may even make you a better photographer, getting one back to basics as you will undoubtedly have to slow down and think before you shoot. Give one a look, I got mine, one in very good condition on ebay with the MB-15 grip for $200.00, a bargain!
