A fun yet bumpy ride
Decent for what it is, but one gets the feeling it wanted to be better, and ends up being at odds with itself. Simple effective easy-to-read artwork that wants to present to us an elaborate mechanical city, so the complexities of how it operates get overlooked a bit too easily. It stars two kids as the protagonists in a fun adventure, but then gets into talks of divided parties, underground factions and politics. A young girl seemingly out of her element handles the dangers of the city better than the young boy that's lived there his entire life. It all builds up to a final battle that while I enjoyed conceptually, is pretty jarring with what the story had presented to that point.
As the title suggested, I did have fun with it. But the one compliant (that seems to be universal) is that it struggles to figure out what it wants to be at times, or who it is for.
