The Emigrants - WG Sebald
Anything by W.G.Sebald is worth reading and this is no exception, although I don't think it rates as highly as his masterpiece 'Austerlitz'. Having said that it shows his idiosyncratic style of writing to perfection. The book is divided into 4 parts, each dealing with a different person, and there is a theme running through each one. Sebald is rather a 'marmite' author - but I am fond of marmite and in some ways he refashioned the way of telling a story.

French romcom - great fun lovely characters
1 of 1 found this helpful Saw a trailer at beginning of another dvd I bought in a charity shop and the story 'Populaire' appealed to me, it is light and fluffy but very engaging and, as I am brushing up my French at present, very useful. In fact I have watched it several times as it is comforting in these worrying (politically) times.
The rapport between the characters is very compelling - transcending the stereotypical French image. Completely daft story but I loved it!
