Not your usual type if train documentary!
I am certainly not a train spotter but have allways loved this series and am very happy to have finally obtained it on dvd. In 10 22 minute episodes Mark Williams (who only knew as Holly in Red Dwarf) explsins the invention and development of railways around the world in a highly idiosyncratic way. Try to see his "Industrial Revelations" series for more enjoyment.

Brilliant, simply brilliant
I love every facet of these two series. A leading actor hosts each episode which succeeds very well in exploring one of the Bards plays, from the script, the historical background and even how it has changed in style and performance through the centuries. Even the title is inspired. After all would anyone be interested in watching a show called domething like "Shakespeare Explained?"
It is very difficult to pick a favourite from the six episodes so I call it a tie between Trevor Nunn with The Tempest and Jerrmy Irons with the Henry plays.
In any case watch and be enthralled and don't miss the second series either!
