Taking a trip south of the border, on wings of history, with good food from kindly people.
If you are not only interested in cooking/appreciating good food from other cultures, But Also are interested in some of the surrounding cultures of the various countries mentioned, then Yes, this cookbook is for you! The author, from what I remember, is not a chef, but a biologist--an orinthologist (bird scientist, specifically, studying tropical birds), so he is not compiling/composing this book from a strictly cultural + food-reflected viewpoint. He gladly noted many times the warm hospitality many, many people south of what became the US-Mexican border with not only gratitude, but such equally grateful appreciation, not only for their warm hospitality, but also their willingness to share their recipes. This book, and his co-author, whom he thanks very much (and, she commends him very well in the forward to this book), is Such a testament to Real Western Hemisphere co-appreciation--and how? Food! As my younger sister has noted in the past, "we all gotta eat".
In short, yes, this book is very highly recommended. My only caveat is, maybe there could have been at Least a few more Indigenous recipes, but otherwise, yes--please, If you want to get an equal regard & respect for other people and cultures besides your own, then yes, please, buy this book!

The excellent Bernat Waverly yarn line
Get this line of 100% acrylic yarn while you still can! Yes, the company has discontinued it; yet it is still the best acrylic yarn I have ever bought. It was probably too high-priced for many people, and now, considering its quality, I'm not surprised that it, per skein, still is. It has a wonderful "hand", and it is truly worsted weight--unlike some yarn manufacturers' products these days, passing off sport-yarn thickness as actual worsted-weight yarn!! Like I said, if you can afford it, get it! Blessings, tarableue09.

Depending on how much you wish to cook, the more volumes in the (at different dated) series, the better.
These Culinary Arts cookbooks series, while they Could be looked on as "hopeless period-pieces", need Not be! This series of cookbooks, taken as a whole, contain quite many tried-and-true recipes, which equally busy house-spouses will find equally important And beneficial to the running of their solo or family kitchens. Some of the auxiliary information is outdated, But, the recipes are very good overall. These recipes can be, at times, a little more daunting than they look at first, but cooks=chefs-in-mostly-at-home-training need not be, as a friend of our family who is a profeseuse PhD has said, "timid in the kitchen".
Yes, this series of cookbooks-and, according to one's specific/general interests re that which one wants to cook, comes well-recommended.
