Has its flaws, but better than the original.
I have a few gripes with this controller, and most are pretty minor. I don't understand why this controller has analog triggers, as they only register as digital on the system. I wish the joystick was a bit tighter, with a Gamecube-style cap. I wish the D-Pad was more defined, less mushy. I wish the transfer pak fit. And the shoulder buttons don't make sense for most games (the triggers should be Z and R, while the bumpers should be L and R). However, the face button layout is perfect, and no grinding joystick is is just amazing to me. It's much better than a stock N64 controller to me overall. Borrow one from a friend to see if you like it first. And hey, RetroBit also makes a decent controller, albeit with some similar flaws.

A well-working replacement part.
This is a perfect replacement part for damaged iPods, or for those upgrading to a thick back. It screwed in perfectly, and I'm having no crackles or audio issues. This is in my 6th Gen Classic.
