Excellent sight, excellent reticle, best for someone with better eyes than me
This sight has gone onto an AR-style rifle used in 2-gun/PSCL competition.
The things I appreciate most about this is that:
- The sight already comes with several different mounting-height options and the necessary screws to accomplish that.
- The sight has a very tight, repeatable picatinny. Some sights are tighter or sloppier than others, this is on the tighter-fitting side.
- Cantilever (forward leaning) mount puts it out over the handguard to get more forward of your eye
- Larger diameter tube, so you get a very nice field of view than narrower optics would permit
- Long battery life is advertised, but I have a history with other sights from the same manufacturer, and so I have no reason to doubt their assertion of a 50k hour batt life. A year is 8670 hours, so in theory the batt could last over 5 years, however I recommend leaving it on at all times on brightness 3 or 4, and just replacing your batt every 1-2y just because you know it's always fresh then.
Target acquisition is very fast. On a light, quick-handling rifle, this doesn't add much to the weight and it performs as expected.
Things that were not what I wanted:
- I initially thought I would plunk this onto an AK with the TWS rail dustcover. I was planning on using the lowest mount option that it came with for that. It mounted to that fine, but the iron aperature sight I have at the rear of the AK's TWS rail could no longer see the front sight. So if I put this on the AK, I'd be stuck with it in place forever, hoping to never have it go down at a bad time. Or find a see-thru mount which would increase the height over bore considerably and would no longer co-witness. (The AK currently has another Primary Arms sight on it, the MD-ADS, which is a plain red dot reticle, and that one correctly co-witnesses with the front sight and rear aperature on the TWS rail). But the happy accident is that it goes onto my 2-gun rifle instead. So for AR use, this thing is great, and for AK use, I'd recommend the MD-ADS if you can find one on ebay, because it mounts lower to the pic than the MD-25 for cowitnessing. Not sure of PA has a sight in current production that mounts as low as the MD-ADS does.
- One other downside, but not unexpected. The "blue" on the threads of the bolts it comes with is basically worthless. Get your own thread locker on there and tighten it up with that.
As far as the ACSS reticle, this is my first one with that reticle. I had heard and read good things about the ACSS over the last year or two. I have other red dots from Primary Arms, and they work great, and so for the money I'm glad to try out this sight. I would say someone with better eyes than me would get more out of the reticle than I do. The reticle's outer circle is a good speed-indexing point. For my eyes, I can't fully distinguish the chevron and dots as clearly as some people can. I see the point of the chevron, and I get a mild blur of dots up to it, but I'm not about to use the chevron and dots to their max potential. 20+ years ago, had this sight existed, I could have taken more advantage of it. Any issues I experience with my view of the reticle is my own eyeballs, not the sight's. Every once in a while I catch glimpses of a clear reticle, based on the angle of my glasses are, and when I see that I'm impressed. If you have any better eyes than me, you can probably get more out of the reticle's potential than I can.
The per-dollar performance of this sight is amazing. Yes, you can find other sights double or triple the price that do the same thing. If you are on a budget (who isnt'?) and need a reasonable sight, with a very good reticle that is a lot faster than the standard red dot, this is an excellent choice.

Best of all of Lee's powder measures, on every point.
I have used every other powder-metering device which Lee Precision has ever produced, and several made by RCBS and Hornday. This powder measure is definitely the best one of its kind that Lee has ever produced, and works as well as any other brand.
The main points that this gets best:
- Zero powder spillage. I loaded 200 rounds and got not a single flake anywhere.
- Accurate. Every single charge was within .1gr, every time. I checked every round for the first 10 rd when using it for the first time, and then every 20 - 30 rd thereafter.
- Quick cylinder change. It changes very quickly from the pistol cylinder to the rifle cylinder with a single screw.
- Adding/replacing powder results in zero spillage. The convenient on/off of the powder hopper when refilling makes it very clean.
- Economical. Why pay 5x more for the RCBS/Hornady when this is just as accurate and in fact easier to use than those are.
Altogether this powder measure design is one of the best powder measures on the market, and clearly the best design Lee has come up with.
