Fantastic sequel
Another absolute winner by Harlan Coben. Do not skip this one. It is the 2nd part to the equally great The Boy From the Woods.

The end will knock your socks off.
Not a favorite of mine but lots of people liked it. It's just not my type of story and for me it read differently from his other novels. I've read almost all the Harlan Coben books and this was the first one I didn't care for. It's his usual formula of two (or even three storylines) entwining into a complete story but I found all three lines to be pretty dark. I guess I'm used to the entertaining way Myron and Win operate.

It's almost too much to bear
I bought this to compare it to the DC animated film since a lot of the film comments recommended reading the comic book. I was as uncomfortable in the material as I was in the movie because the thought of Superman not being the defender of America horrified me. The graphics horrify as well, as they should. This is not a glamour shot. Nothing is pretty here so be warned about over emphasized light and dark graphically. Its perfect for a story of this caliber.
It's an outstanding tale of a well meaning hero whose values are homegrown and he wants to 'fix' things. But even in fixing things like only he is capable of doing he's missing the point. Suffering is deeper than surface appearance. You can't control everything in every situation, hard as you try. Derelicts exist underground and right under his nose but he keeps plowing ahead to safeguard his fellow man and not necessarily only his countrymen. I wondered if the absence more Justice League would've eased the tension a little. Nope. He would've wiped them out too. Lex, Batman (my fave anti guy), Green Lantern (and his corps) and even Brainiac (robot genius) were enough to keep the angles of this frightful 'what-if' in check.
Get it. Keep it. Be thankful.
