Easy setup and solid performance
I cannot speak to the technology inside but it uses the newest DOCSIS 3.1 standards and supports up to 1 GB speeds IF YOU pay for that service from your cable provider. The modem isn't going to make your speeds faster without upping your service. Set up was easy and I was able to have my cable provider recognize the modem on line which may not be available to everyone. It maybe faster than my old Netgear modem but not appreciable so. I upgraded because my old Netgear modem was getting long in the tooth.

Synology NAS
Synology may not use the most cutting edge hardware in their NAS machines but their software interface is second to none.
If you're an IT person it doesn't really matter - go with the latest hardware you can afford; however, if you're a layman, software and ease of set-up makes your life soooo much easier but as always YMMV.
