Cloverfield in 250 words or less...
Why you bought it: I’d missed this film at the cinema, thought a good idea to check it out.
What you like most about it: The stories premise, a big monster with smaller tiny(ish) ones dropping off! I liked the build up to actually seeing the monster and the arrival of the smaller ones as parasites were interesting + the fact that our “modern” weapons seemed a bit rubbish.
What you dislike about it: (i) The introduction, I love the introduction to the first God Father, it really sets up the movie, the atmosphere and the characters. Cloverfield isn’t the God Father and I personally found the introduction to the characters too long when they where up in the flat preparing and having the party. I get it, I get the reason for the video documentary style it was because the guy was recording the guests, enough already start the film. (ii) Is the monster linked to the (Lost) Darma initiative or just bad karma, I mean where did it come from, the ocean, the sky? I like to know. (iii) the weapons couldn’t kill it! Come on the smaller monsters seemed to die easy enough why did the Cloverfield monster seem to be invincible, not buying it. (iv) At one point the original cameraman is killed by the large monster that seems to just creep up on him! Hmmm.
So overall a good film, glad I saw it, could have an edited version with less beginning scene.

The Flying Gliders of WWII
1 of 1 found this helpful I've been buying these over the past few years. This comment is about the actual plane. The past two purchases I've noticed that the actual quality of the foam and printing of the plane image is 1000% better than the ones I was being sent by various sellers last year.
I believe the manufacturer has updated the planes. The material feels slightly stronger and the colours of the planes are really bright and vibrant.
My only issue is that some of the planes don't look like the ones they are supposed to represent. 12 the Piper Tri-Pacer which as looked the same to me for years since I was a child now looks different, the colours are the same but the iconic high positioning of the wing is no more.
In addition the rear elevators are no longer movable and the whole tail is set at an angle already. It flies true but the whole fun of the elevators was modifying them to do stunts.
Overall I like the quality changes but I wish they didn't loose the essence of them, which is their individuality and matching against the images on the packet.
Below old and new style Spit-fire Mk.1. The new ones are much more vivid and actually a little larger.

Rave On...
Joy Division, New Order and if I think of it Happy Mondays are on the playlistof my life. Love will tear us apart is somehow burt into my memory from when I was a kid and later I got into the music as a lot of people do through going to college and making tapes of tapes. When I was at college "Madchester" was truely in effect with the other indie bands of the time Inspiral Carpets, Charlatens etc. So why's 24HPP worth watching? Thanks to YouTube I've managed to see several "history's of" that have had Tony Wilson and Factory records in them but this film, tong in cheek that it is something I've not seem before in as much as this was a part of history (a bit like I first heard of Acid House on Network 7 - on youtube now) that missed the tv and missed being YouTube'ble. The acting's good, the music's great and it shows in it's hour or so running time a brief glimps at a history that has a bit of meaning for me.
The two disk version I brought has some extra bits and bobs including Hookie from New Order and others watching the film and commenting / giving stories.
