Still a great game!
My neighbor in the 80's could not figure this game out. He brought it over and showed me how he couldn't get past the lame first screen. By fooling around I figured out how to get to the cool part-- blasting aliens. But still I was just joystick and button mashing, with inconsistent results, and would always get blown away quickly by the aliens. 30+ years later and I finally read the manual online! Getting past radar mode, setting the difficulty to easy to get good before mastering difficult, makes this an amazing game, especially with some light imagination. BTW pretty sure Ernest Cline based the plot of "Armada" off of this game. Read the manual and feel like The Last Starfighter practically every single round. Also, coolest cartridge design hands down. There should be a movie based on this game.
