Test Drive 6 - Dreamcast Game
13 January 2023
Way better than its price suggests.
I initially played this game several years ago and thought it looked like a bad psone game and played terribly. Ended up selling my copy and forgot about it. Recently I thought I'd give it another shot as it's extremely cheap. This time around I was really able to appreciate the game for what it is. It controls a little like Cruisin' USA, only not quite as bad. It is a somewhat twitch based racer though. The tracks are large and have a good variety of visual distinction in a wide variety of locations. There are a good number of cars, which are all upgradeable. There's a good sensation of speed, even in the early races, and the rubber banding means that the whole race is competitive. Even with a few major F ups you can still come back and do well by the finish line. This game is definitely much better than its going price suggests. It's classic arcade racing mania, for lack of a better term, that you simply wouldn't see made today. The only real knock against it is performance, where there are several areas on some of the longer tracks where having a lot of racers and traffic in one location will cause frame drops, but this problem is brief and things get back on track quickly. Pun half intentional.

A worthy sequel to one of historys best RPG's.
An absolutely stunning game. The original Lunar has been considered a classic since it was released on the Sega CD and the crown jewel of legendary publisher Working Designs. Against all odds they've managed to make a worthy sequel in Eternal Blue. Like the original Lunar it is full of colorful, memorable, and lovable characters with the world of Lunar acting as its own. As great as the original was Lunar 2 has several improvements working for it that in some ways actually make it the superior game. For one, it is a longer game and has more cut scenes. The battle system is more refined making encounters less tedious and each character has a greater variety or magic/skills that fit into the game well. even status based attacks are worth using, unlike every single other rpg in the world. Additionally there seems to be a greater variety of monsters to fight in general. Without spoiling it I must say that the story is at least on par with the original. If you're a "true believer" in the series I highly recommend dropping the huge chunk of change on the complete edition of the game. It includes a leather bound booklet, full map of the world, a brilliant soundtrack, a making of CD, mini card board stand ups of the characters and a full size pendant (an important in game item). All and all it feels more "complete" than fans of the Sega CD version will recognize and no one will be disappointed by this enthralling adventure. By far one of the best RPG's of the 32 bit generation. Funny, clever, engaging. Everything you'd want and more.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Collector's Edition Guide by Prima Games (Hardcover)

A great high quality book
If you're into the Xenoblade games you are definitely going to want to pick this up. It is very high quality, colorful and loaded with information. My only gripe is that it is more of an extremely thorough index than a strategy guide. It should tell you how to go about the many different missions rather than just giving you the bullet points of objectives. That's not to say this book is anything less than packed with useful information, I just would have liked a bit more direction from the affinity section.
