Top notch GBA game that any holder should own
Super Mario games are to the game industry what bribes are to politicians. The politicians don't necessarily need the bribes, but when you think of one, you inherently think of the other. Mario has been a staple of the gaming world since 1985 and save for all the ridiculous spin-offs, not much has changed. If you met the pudgy plumber after he'd made his way into the 3D realm, then you haven't been gaming for all that long and it may come as a surprise that old 2D pieces from the beginning of a console generation over a decade ago could be fun. This isn't a matter of "well, it was the funnest thing we had BACK THEN" so much as it was just genuinely fun on every front and holds up fantastically today. To many, the Gameboy Advance is more like a tiny Super Nintendo than anything else, which is why it was surprising for Nintendo not to release Super Mario World right off the bat. Still, they got around to it and it is pretty awesome. This game had top-notch graphics at the time and still hold up well today with a keen art style and nice polish to everything around. The music is still perky, the enemies still threatening in the cutest way possible... and most importantly, all the core game mechanics of Mario are here. Jump, swim, fly, jump some more.... This game consists of dozens of levels, alternate paths, secret worlds... its replayability is fantastic because just playing the game through once isn't a quick or easy task. Since the release of New Super Mario Bros on the Nintendo DS, sales of this cart have really shot up so don't expect to get a bargain price on it any time soon. Still, if you have to pay the full retail or even a couple dollars over, you will not feel ripped off. This game is top-notch, and every GBA owner should have a copy. I don't say that lightly.

Good box, though not perfect either
This box served a pretty good purpose when it first game out: to make it easier for everyone to get ahold of all the singles they'd missed up through 2002. It even features a (fairly useless) unreleased single. The unfortunate part about it is that this box is also incomplete. The fact is that they just released a TON of singles for Razorblade Romance and Greatest Lovesongs and a few of them are missing here, namely Your Sweet Six Six Six (1998), Wicked Game (2000) and Your Sweet 666 (2000) which is an outright crime considering that the real singles are so hard to find. Once you get over that (if you ever noticed at all) you will find that there are ten singles here full of goodies that you may or may not have already found on the internet, but that they are still great disccs. Questionable is the decision to make them 10 separate discs in cardsleeve cases, versus a 2-disc compilation or some sort of fold-out deal. This makes them hard to display for collectors in or out of box, and a bit of a hassle for one to keep in their car for quick swapping. All those, though, are the only frustrations I have with this little bundle. It contains: It's All Tears (Unreleased) Wicked Game (1998) When Love and Death Embrace (1999) Join Me (1999) Right Here In My Arms (2000) Poison Girl (2000) Gone With the Sin (2000) Pretending (2001) In Joy and Sorrow (2001) Heartache Every Moment & Close to the Flame (2002) Each version included in this bundle is the most complete version released, which is nice. Depending on whether or not you've heard everything this box has to offer, you may not feel like it's really worth the price it fetches ($30-$45) but if you're new to HIM, you couldn't ask for a better sampler set and this is a great item for any collector who missed out on the singles back when they first came out and doesn't have the money to buy now that they're rare. Now we play the waiting game for volume 2, to make it easier for us to get the singles that have come out in the years since.

Not a Bad Game, Good For Collection
With 32 volumes of the manga on my shelf and two tattoos on my body, it's fair to say that I am a real Berserk fan. I made a point to get my hands on this game as quickly as I could, since I'm also a game collector and it just made sense. When I actually popped it in, I found that it plays a lot like the PS2 Berserk game: Millenium Falcon which is probably a good thing, since it works. This is a game for fans of the hack 'n slash and beat 'em up genres of games. You, as Guts, will be stringing together combos of gore with your massive sword, arm cannon, repeating crossbow, and mini bombs. If any of that sounds bizarre, then Berserk may be too over-the-top for you. For the Berserk die-hards out there, it is important to note that this game does not follow the main story. Taking place between the third and fourth story arcs, this is a side-story penned by Miura for the sake of the game. At times it feels a little too bizarre, too anime cliché if you will, but then you aren't buying this old manga-themed Dreamcast game for top-notch storytelling, are you? If you are just looking for a good title for your Dreamcast but you've already bought every game with the SEGA developer logo on it, then Berserk should keep you entertained, but it isn't the easiest game to find anymore, so keep an eye out for a well-priced one. Long live the Dreamcast.
