Enjoyable but far too short, LOTR style Battlefront, unbalanced classes
2 of 2 found this helpful The Lord of the Rings Conquest is an interesting experience. It plays similarly to the Star Wars Battlefront games in that you choose a class (out of 4: Warrior, Archer, Scout or Mage) and complete campaign missions by capturing areas, holding areas, breaking down barracades or killing a boss. The campaign is a bit too quick. You play a good side campaign from Helms Deep to the Black Gates of Mordor, then unlock Evil Campaign with a what if scenario of the Ringwraiths killing Frodo at Mount Doom whilst resurecting the Witch-King. This leads to a campaing across the world of men, dwarves and elves and ultimately conquering Middle-Earth. Online gameplay can be fun, but you might as well play instant action by yourself. The combat system is not balanced well. As a Warrior your stronger than others with agressive attacks, but struggle against other warriors. This class is also the only one that can defeat troll swiftly. The Scout class is overpowered in that you can kill anyone instantly. The Mage class is lacking in certain respects, especially as Gandalf for he cannot block attacks by a sword even though he has one. As a Hero Character you should be formiddible, but really only Aragorn, Legolas and Gandalf are on the goodside. The evil heros are all well designed and easy to play as. This game is worth getting cheaply, but it is too short to be a big seller and needs some DLC's to be made for it including new campaign missions, characters and maps for it to be a great game. It's enjoyable but far too short, if you compare it to similar games like Battlefront.
