Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage (Wii, 2009)
The game itself looks very enticing especially by it good looking cover and the idea of snowboarding in your living room. However, once the box was opened and the game was put in, all of my expectations were crushed. The controls are goofy, they don't feel at all like snowboarding and in some cases they are just silly. For example, when playing the game with just the Wii-mote, to jump you had to move your arm up rapidly, at first, this was fun but, later, it just became annoying. The actual gameplay its self was rather boring. I was expecting either a realistic feel or an overly exaggerated feel such as the ssx series has. It captured neither and at times it felt like it was trying to do too many things at once. The races became monotonous and when I began to beat the game too fast, it made me stop playing the campaign and "hang out with friends". The control for the tricks also seemed a bit silly, they were trying to make the player feel like he was actually doing them but in reality it was either shifting my weight or rotating my hand. I think that this was innovative but it was definitely not perfected. It would have been more enjoyable if there was more to do. The game overall is too short and not as thrilling as I expected.
