3L Professional Digital Ultrasonic Cleaner Stainless Steel Bath Heater w/Basket
26 May 2021
Does what it says it does, just watch out for the stated capacity.
Does exactly what it says it does, but be careful about the stated capacity. All the vendors of these products seem to over-state the capacity as the full to the brim capacity, not the usable capacity which is the fill line just above the basket, where the metal is pressed out a little more. The difference is a fair bit lower. If you look closely in the details, you can find this, but its not immediately obvious. i.e. 3.0L = 2.4L Mine has paid for its self already - cleaned up two carburettors removing the need to replace them. Its also small enough to be able to be tucked out of the way when not in use. The only slight negative is that its very slow to get the fluid to temperature. I have started putting hot water in from a kettle to get me where I want to be a lot quicker. Top tip if you are doing carburettor rebuilds - get a stainless steel tea infuser - i.e. the things you drop teal eaves into when making a cuppa. This allows all the small bits to be dropped in and not fall through the wire basket that comes with the unit.
Programmable 150W Test 30A Electronic Load Battery New 150V It8511a+ Z
18 January 2018
Very nice device should have got one before !
I took a while to decide to get the electronic load - after all, I've got power resistors and ohm's law - what more do I need ? Having the flexibility to dial in exactly the load I want is invaluable - no more strapping resistors together to get close to the load you need or getting burned fingers when things get hot during testing. Its got Constant Current, Constant Voltage, Constant Power and Constant Resistance modes, plus short circuit mode and it can be programmed to cycle across a number of different load profiles in sequence, although I've not needed to do this yet. Although delivered uncalibrated and as the sensing is on the two input connectors, the meter's accuracy is good, its within a couple of mV compared to my 6 digit DMM. Current sensing is equally accurate. As the input connectors are rated for the 30A load, there are no 4mm banana sockets, but a couple of heavy duty crimp spade plugs a short length of heavy gauge wire and a banana sockets easily solves that problem. Just be careful if you use the RS232 connector as it needs opto isolation to your PC, these are available cheaply on-line, but I can't find availability of OEM adapters any more. Over all - its highly recommended and a really useful addition to the workbench.
Sealey AK418 Battery Post & Terminal Cleaner 4-Way
18 April 2018
Does the job
I've had good experience with previous Sealey products which is why I decided to get this one. It works by scraping off some of the metal on the post as you rotate it. Frankly, I'm not sure which is the "right" way to rotate it to clean the terminals, one way seems to dig in more than the other and neither direction seems to give a clean flat surface. Granted looks aren't important for a good connection. Personally I think that the cheaper push-on round wire brush type gives a better job with less damage to the terminals at least general removal of oxidation and crud. I'm guessing that this product probably works better for heavier build up, which I didn't have on my 4 batteries and therefore can't feed back on.. Both are in the tool box now, time will tell which becomes the preferred tool.
