Do NOT discontinue these bulbs!!!
A recent law was passed limiting or eliminating the manufacture of many types of incandescent light bulbs; these are now very hard to find in stores. On eBay they can sometimes be found, and they are worth the trouble for the beautiful full-spectrum white light that they cast.
Unfortunately the LED bulbs intended to replace good old incandescents just don't shine the same; true they use much less energy and remain cool to the touch but the color of light they give off is unpleasant, and their brightness does not compare.
I use mine to illuminate my art collection, and I never see the full richness of color without the right bulb.
Chromalux and its clone Bulbrite are my favorites so far. I am not adverse to trying some upgraded variety of LED bulb that could mimic or improve upon the spectrum offered by the incandescent; the problem is that I have yet to find one.
Well-intentioned though that energy-saving law may have been, it needs to be amended to allow for consumers' choice.

Best light for indoors
Chromalux bulbs were developed to emit light that mimicked the spectra of sunlight. Meant for therapy for patients feeling depressed during winter. I like that they pick up colors in artwork without a blinding white or yellowish glare.
