Channel Master Antenna Rotator CM-9521HD
04 July 2022
Works OK with reservations
"Will see if the HD means heavier gears and motor or just same old, same old rotator with a new number." As to the motor - same old, same old. Minor changes have been made to the wiring connections, but a majority of it is the same old unit. The controller insides are a little better with a bigger transformer. These rotors perform reasonable well if you keep the rotor-to-antenna mast short and only use antennas that are small or medium sized. Put a Yagi on it with a boom length over about 7 feet, and you'll be asking for problems.
Hallicrafters Model S-38C Shortwave Receiver, Tube Ham Radio AM Works PARTS ONLY
27 January 2022
Cute looking but poor performance
I'm surprised that people are paying big money for these radios. Yes, they look neat, but they are actually rather poor radios. They are not sensitive because they have very little amplification in them. They are virtually deaf on band 4. They are very poor at copying CW or sideband, and have poor selectivity. Then there is the "hot chassis" shock hazard with them. As a ham radio operator, I've owned a couple and repaired many of the S-38 series. Save you money, do a little home work and buy a better quality radio.
