Absolutely necessary
Like any automotive repair manual not a single one is perfect and I personally recommend having one from both Chilton's and Haynes as each one will have something the other doesn't have or a slightly different way to do a specific repair that is easier than the other one. With over 25 years in the field, you'd be amazed at how often I turn to both manuals on a repair job and find one or the other has a little trick to do the job that the other doesn't have to get the job done.
