Great working old brakeset
The springs on my Shimano 105 brakes finally gave up the ghost, they just wouldn't spring the calipers open anymore. In addition to this the quick release levers on the brakes no longer functioned properly. These brakes are on my 1987 Cannondale SR500, which has seen about 75,000 miles. In an effort to keep the bike original I wanted to use the same brakeset. Also I figured the same brakes would be more or less plug and play. Once the brakes arrived I was able to take off the old and put on the new, well, new to me, in about a half hour total. Even though these are single pivot type brakes they center easily, have very smooth and predictable pulls, have good stopping power, and look great! The springs are very strong and open up the calipers quickly and fully when I let go of the brake levers. I'm very happy with this purchase.
