Keeps ticking of you can adjust it

the stem is very hard to pull out to adjust the time. I have tried to contact Timex to get this resolved but they want to charge me $8 to send the watch back. They have terrible customer service. Good watch, bad engineering on the stem. I had the same watch years ago and it was fine. They have changed the size of the stem and made it harder to pull out. If you are older you might find a simple task like this very hard to do.
