Good Images, mediocre interface
1 of 1 found this helpful The video quality is superb, especially when using image stabilization in 1080p mode. Good color balance, sharp, fluid. 5 stars.
The GPS logging function is surprisingly helpful as well.
Battery life is so-so (better than GoPro, not as good as Drift).
The user interface is very cumbersome. Lots of hierarchical menus to wade through with hard-to-press rubbery, recessed buttons on the camera. (It's actually easier to press the buttons with the waterproof case on than off, thanks to the hard buttons on the case.) The saving grace is that once everything is configured the way you like, you can just press the record button (even from power off) and it will just go. The other saving grace is the WiFi interface and iPhone app, which lets you monitor and adjust what you're doing. Hopefull more features get added over time.
The media slot is terrible. It's a multipurpose slot for both MicroSD and Sony Memorystick. To enable this, the slot lacks the mechanical stop that normally prevents an SD card from being inserted in the wrong orientation. And even if you do insert it correctly, it can end up crooked and still not make contact. Terrible design. Make sure you power up every time you insert a card and check that there is no media error.
Hugely annoying to use, but the payoff is outstanding videos.

good filter
works well and lasts. I replace filters annually, but I don't really notice any decrease in airflow, even though it picks up a lot of dust.
