More than expected
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this to use as a way to practice forming and polishing, basically planning to use it as a rough form and give it a nice fit and finish. The handle is a cast pot-metal, I was expecting plastic. The polish on the blade looks good. Looks 'cooler' than expected, especially for such a low price.
I don't plan to 'use' it to whack against branches and such; I assume the metal is brittle. If you want a fun blade for that go with an Ontario machete or other similar super tough blade.
This is not a fine piece of hand forged craftsmanship, but scratches that itch to hold sword shaped shiny metal, and I think with a little work with a dremel and some model touch-up techniques can be really cool.
There's a place in a guys life for both types of blades. I'd rather have my $150 Gransfors Bruks axe (looks awesome, true craftsmanship, not afraid to use it as hard as I can) and fill the 'sword' category with this than spend what it would take to make this as a 'real' sword. Glad it's available.
