The Myth of the Great War : A New Military History of World War I by John Mosier
    21 May 2019
    Excellent Re-examination of WWI
The author uses quite a few primary French and German sources in addition to English. He makes a very convincing argument that Germany was winning World War I until the Americans started their 1918 offensive.
Victorious (The Lost Fleet), Campbell, Jack, Good Book
    24 May 2017
    A Bit Anti-Climactic
This is the concluding novel of the "Lost Fleet" series. The final battle with the last Syndic fleet is a anti-climactic and rather brief. Black Jack Geary kicks some alien butt and gets the girl by the end of the novel. Unfortunately, this book is long on people talking but not much action. The book is OK but not as good as some of the earlier books in the series.

Faller HO Building Model B-924 Old Town Quarter
    15 November 2017
OK (but not Great) Faller Set of HO Buildings
You get a half-dozen buildings but most are tall with a small footprint (about 2" x 2"). These buildings all look like 14th - 18th Century architecture for a European "Old Town" look. The buildings are mostly grey and brown plastic and really need to be painted before they look good. When you first open the box, it is pretty overwhelming: there are about 30 sprues of pieces and the directions are not the best. In fact, a couple of buildings do not have complete steps indicated in the instructions.
