Interesting historically, but 40 years on, it misses what will interest today's reader.
I rated this book a creditable 4 out of 5 stars, some 5 years ago at purchase, but felt uneasy about writing a review at that time. Did I like the book? Yes. Was it good value? Yes.
However, I had a nagging feeling that, for the evolutionary, perhaps revolutionary, certainly finest and final true XJ6, I expected more. As a Jaguar XJ6 Series 3 owner, and collector of several earlier and much later of the marque, I do believe this was the finest (especially in LWB form) of the saloons that earned the distinction of grace, space and pace!
Unfortunately, while this book aims to show this is so, it does not do well in showing why!
The book is a collection of contemporary reports . . . from motor show launches to outback Australian torture tests and more urbane road tests. This book promises much . . . and yet, I came away feeling that many of those pieces from 40 years ago, now appear jaded, and do not truly reflect what a better car this was. Perhaps this is a failing born of the writers at that time? Perhaps a failing of the new car road test process? How can contemporary road tests give credible input to the improved reliability, much improved body fitment and sealing, paint durability and many other longer term benefits that this model exhibited in later years . . . and why, 40 years on, the Series 3 represents such a sought after classic.
However, 5 years after purchase of this book and an enjoyable first read, I find it is a coffee table curio rather than a reference I have ever gone back to. Would I buy it again? Yes!

Great value in a fine electric bass practice amp
At a time when lead pickers are searching for every new trick on the sonic scene, most bass players are after a good reliable, no frills, practice amp that can take a fair share of hard work without sacrificing a deep rich purity of tone at surprising high volumes. Top marks go to any practice bass amp that delivers good performance from a light weight package that does NOT need two beefy roadies to move!
This BEHRINGER ULTRABASS BT108 delivers all that, and more, at an excellent price. The casing appears robust enough to take its share of knocks. Controls are well laid out and smoothly linear in operation. Standard inputs are provided - mono for bass; stereo for CD/line. The sole improvement one may have hoped for, but not provided, would see individual volume pots for each input. An excellent 4-band equalizer is provided with acceptable boost/cut. A driver cancelling headphone output fills out the control panel. Weight is modest enough to carry one-handed via built-in case strap.
Checking with a 'scope showed no evidence of "notching" through full rotation of each pot. Equally importantly, noise levels were quite low. The quality of the custom made 8" BUGERA driver shone through - THD (distortion) was surprisingly low, even at the lower limit of the bass player's interest and at sound levels that are well beyond what most of us will ever use (or other family members or neighbours would tolerate).
Undoubtedly, there are high end custom boxes that will outperform this BT108 - but, at this price and portability - forget it! Well done to the manufacturer for bringing together such an excellent product - and also, to this eBay seller who delivers it at such excellent value.

Great visibility and value clip-on tuner
This clip-on guitar tuner has 3 great features, when applied to 4 and 5s basses and guitars, although I have no experience on ukuleles, violins, pianos or other exotics -
* highly visible during tuning, playing, even in stage light conditions;
* reliably accurate when measured against analyser;
* uses a ubiquitous battery;
* low cost and great value.
The only thing better than one of these devices, is a bundle of them!
