The Real picture
These mics are not in the range of a $2000 mic . But MXL has made a very big splash with these units . Crisp , clear with no coloration of the sound . I needed some smooth silky condensers in my studio .For me and my partner vocals are key to our music . There are many vocal mikes made on the market . The 550/551 duo package was recommended to me by my nephew . In his opinion they do the job and they do it well . The value / cost consideration for me and my nephew was a no -brainer . I too am recommending these to those who have similar needs as I had. The instrument mike performed exactly the same . I use it for the guitar . My partner plays his Martin full throttle and I needed one that passes on no distortion , noise or roughness . The 551 does that . Simply put " buy a set today , money well spent on upgrading your vocal -mic collection " .

My mixer Solution !
I simply needed an auxillary mixer to connect all my newer units together . The MX2442 was my solution. Clean noise-free operation and enough inputs to tie all of my studio together . Behringer mixers are built to last . I have a MX3282a . Owned it since 2005 and not one issue . The separate 150 watt PSU is part of the answer . The units never get hot or hesitate at any time . I could skip the stereo inputs and use more mono channel strips . However they are quite useful for cd , cassette , and other line-level units that eat up inputs quick . Overall I have no negative comments of this unit or my 32 channel . These are great on live- stage set-ups as I can feed on-stage monitors , performer mics , and FOH monitors by using the aux sends . I do not see myself retiring these units any time soon . They are worthy so I will use them !

An outstanding value and a unit very well taken care of !!!!!!!
Without it the 901speakers will not perform accurately .But when used they enable the frequency curve to be spot on , especially in the bass area . I strongly recommend that like myself , anyone who purchases a used 40 year old Bose EQ. unit , they have it reconditioned by one of several tech's that do that . It will be even a better product . If you have a 901 set , an EQ. is a must.
