Painting With Acrylics by Jenny Rodwell (1990)
This is a very good book for beginners and anyone who wants to know the history and applications of acrylics. It touches on basic techniques, color mixing and more. This version of it was edited for sexual content. All nude parts are masked.

Golden Compass movie
I had heard a lot of hype about this movie when it first came out and purchased the DVD (cheaper than seeing the movie). I am a Christian, so was a bit reluctant to watch another Christian bashing movie, but I honestly did not see that. What I did see was a criticism of authoritarian governments, aiken to Gallileo being tried for heresy. As for the witchcraft and magic, it was on a par with Harry Potter. There were some good scenes, but it was your typical prequel movie, where you are strung along waitng for a final tie up and only end up with what amounts to a commercial within the movie to come watch the next movie, which was very disapointing and somewhat of a rip off. The air scenes and use of glowing power source in the carriages verses the use of horses was very interesting and there were a few scenes that were captivating, but I was left with a feeling of being hung out to dry in damp weather. Good for older kids perhaps, but probably not younger ones.

Greatest feel good movie of the year
You cannot help but tap your toes and sing along. The scene with all the women tossing their house work and following along singing and jumping in the ocean made me want to follow them! Great scenes. Pierce Brosnan's singing takes some nerves, but his heartfelt acting makes it easier to bear!
