Allows free PCI-E slots.
This adapter is comparable in price to similar gigabit hardware, plus you don't have to use up PCI-E slots for networking. You can save PCI-E slots for raid cards or other peripherals.

Great cost to performance!
This product works great, and is very good in terms of cost to performance. You should check out Scrapyard Wars, on linustechtips, where you can see a demonstration of how this processor a good budget buy.
Make sure to check if your motherboard support it fully (some older will support it, but not all cores or at full speed)
