Interesting and inclusive

The Yakuza Papers follow one Japanese Yakuza as he rises from a simple foot soldier to being the head of his own family and dueling with other families for control of vice in Hiroshima to an early retirement. The movies are well shot and although you do need to pay close attention to the story and the assortment of characters, its easy to become addicted. The Direction and acting is superb and the window you get into the Yakuza culture is impressive. Easily this is one of the best Japanese movies not only of the Yakuza genre but in general.
