...And this is why he is now an actor
So ever wondered why Mark Wahlberg keeps trying to deny this part of his career? If you haven't, this album could give you insight.
While his first album was nothing special, at the very least, it had the catchy single Good Vibrations, which was a very successful Single for him and is still played on the radio to this day. This album however went under the radar, and for good reason.
Is it bad? No, but it's not great. The good moments on here are very few and far between. One of these is the title track and first and only single, which is barely remembered by the general public and that can't be a good thing.
Mark's flow is not terrible, although it's never been fantastic. What ever his first album did write, this album does half-assed.
The one big social commentary track on here, American dream, is frankly, quite corny. It's not that the lyrics are bad or that the track is not Gritti and real, it's just that Mark's flow is lazy, overly sensual for the topic he is discussing and makes the whole thing seem just a tad forced. And don't even get started on how laughable things get when Wahlberg tries to be gangsta. I'm pretty sure this is not supposed to be a comedy record, but for all the wrong reasons, it does come off as one. That's not to say the production isn't good. The production on this album is definitely top-of-the-line and I also have no issue with the sampling or scratching on the album. Also, a couple tracks on here cross into house territory and one boarders on being rap rock, pulling back on that vibe and returning to a more old school funk sound, not a bad thing. Still, you could do a lot worse than this, but you could also do a lot better. And sadly, his first album was comparatively a hell of a lot better.

Vintage and okay
1 of 1 found this helpful I didn’t purchase from this listing, but I did buy two of these about four years ago. They were used but when I put batteries into them, they worked fine. My problem, it’s not quite as cool as I was expecting. I grew up with toys from this line and remember them fondly. I didn’t know this particular one existed for years. Fact is, it does what it supposed to do and that was probably a lot cooler back in 1998 then now.

It’s Simon... on your face!!!!!
This latest installment of Simon is fantastic, although when playing it, you might look as though you are slapping yourself in the face.
The solo game is heaps of fun. Just watch the pattern of lights and listen out for the sounds and repeat by waving your hands over the senses. The real fun though is synching more than one game unit together and playing the same sequence with friends. It becomes a process of elimination to see who can go the longest and it is heaps and heaps of fun if you can get friends around to play with you. To do this though, you will need to buy more than one game unit. Either that, or insure that your friends have their own unit.
Over all, Simon Optix is heaps of fun for children and adults alike, although you might find it a bit tight on your head if you have a head that’s a bit too large though this can be adjusted quite easily. Sorry that should be if your head is a bit too small and loose if it’s large. Still, it’s heaps of fun. Batteries are not included with the product so you should make sure you have 4 AAA batteries on hand so you can get playing ASAP.
