460716-001 NEW HP DV2000, DV2500 Laptop Motherboard (upgrade for 448596-001)
03 February 2017
new life for old laptop
Bought for a DV2500 (AMD) that went dead. would not power on. I did some research and as usual HP made 2 versions of this model. one was AMD (Turion x2) and the other was Intel. the only difference was in the heatsink/fan assembly between the two. I purchased the Intel heatsink/fan version here on eBay, and Installed using an Intel T4300 I had already. So, this board will accept a 8oomHz front side bus CPU (BIOS F.2E BIOS was installed on the board-last/latest). I did have to use a copper shim to cool the GPU (nVidia 8400 DX9c) as this is the reason for many if not most of this HP models (AMD and Intel versions DV2500's) overheat and either have corrupted video or stop powering on altogether. after making sure the CPU and GPU were secure and making proper contact with heat sink, I re-assembled and installed Windows 7 (I installed 32 bit as only had 3 gb DDR-2 667) but the CPU was 64 bit and I tested with 4 GB (2x2gb DDR2 667 and 800 and BIOS detected it correctly (Crucial and Samsung modules) Using the hardware id for devices not installed (no drivers on OS install, I quickly found all drivers, and installed Intel's Chipset drivers for 32 bit windows 7, and series 4 express graphics. I was curious and looked up windows 10 installation, knowing the GPU (graphic chip) was the only questionable device to prevent windows 10, I found several reviews and write ups online. I went ahead, and IT WORKED! so my Acer Aspire 4330 with T4300 3gb DDR-2 667 and 120gb HDD is hapily running Windows 10 Home Prem 32 bit. just as fast as it did Windows 7, and so much better than Vista! so if youre wondering... it works under windows 10, but youre still going to want 3_gb of RAM and may want to disable windows 10 from installing the Microsoft driver for the Intel graphics in favor the the last Intel driver (note Intel site says Windows 7 version 15.1.1. last driver for the Series 4 Express GPU) it work perfectly under windows 10. if any or all of this is greek to you... just install the OS that came on the laptop. I am not providing Tech support...sorry ;)

Antec, one of the most reliable PSU's
Antec is one of the best PSU manufacturers I have come to rely on in my 25+ years in IT. They work, and if something should fail, they have great CSR who take care of you. this one went in a Media center PC in my bed room, into an Antec Sonata III case for music and occasional movie.
Crucial MX300 275GB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive - CT275MX300SSD1

nice price, good performance
having purchased and installed 2 Crucial M300 256gb HDD's I needed another. The only difference this time was having Windows 10 x64 as opposed to Windows 7 x64 with my other purchases. I cloned my hard drive and copied it to the MX300. booted right up, and all was good, until my system began locking up/freezing. long story short, you will need to look at your SATA drivers. the Microsoft installed driver under Windows 10 was the culprit. I updated with a driver from Intel, and installed under safe mode. rebooted and lock up/freezing was gone. I also found at Crucial's site a new firmware released the day i received my MX300, that addressed some issues under Win10. these are good drives, just check your system and have drivers and the latest firmware installed before you clone or install Win 10.
