DirecTV Genie External Drive

I purchased this drive to use the esata connection for creating an external drive to expand the capacity of my DirecTV Genie DVR. I used a 4TB Western Digital Purple Drive (24/7 Surveillance Drive) with this unit. I unplugged my Genie, hooked it up with my Genie with the included esata cable, powered up this unit first then plugged my genie back into power. After starting up it saw this drive and formatted it right away for external use. This allowed me to increase my DVR storage from 1TB of the internal drive to 4TB with the external drive. I love the ability to monitor the temperature and HDD speed on the front panel. I will definitely purchase more of these in the future. I am looking into external drives for my computer. The ability to have the status on the displays greatly makes it worth the cost of building my own external units.
