Most Visually Appealing of all One Dollar Coins !
17 of 22 found this helpful This coin projects a sense of greatness unlike other American Coinage. All coins like this one (i.e. the Walking Liberty and the Mercury dime) portray an ideal of American Symbolism which coins before and after were unable to achieve. This is because other coins are dedicated to the praise of past presidents while these coins are dedicated to an ideal who the coin's artist was able to make manifest into an image that he believed would invoke in us a sense of price and admiration......for the nation that might be and ought to be.
Although presidents before Abraham Lincoln were worthy of admiration in many respects........presidents after him have been more and more immoral.
Speaking for myself, whenever I see coinage with a given presidents face I recall all that the individual has done.........and if the actions he took were to destroy the great country established by the Founding Fathers, then I find it harder each time I look at that coin to admire it......I guess automatically as an emotional response. It is hard to admire the coin of a president that did not admire one's right to be free.
Therefore, this One Dollar Coin is like no other in that it does not reflect the head of a President Traitorous to the Constitution and Human Liberty....and at the same time, is the prettiest of all remaining in its class.
PEACE to the "Peace Dollar"
