work as advertised, but......
more bad batteries this time. far more than the previous order. approx 20% failure so far.

Not perfect, but significantly better than battery models
continuous pressure, much better than the battery operated model. I wish the cord to the sprayer was more flexible. also wish there was a cover on the water container.

Close to perfect
3 of 3 found this helpful Performance- The 4 cyl does about everything well, with the possible exception of high speed passing. That infrequent chore, in my experience, is more than offset by the consistent over 30 mpg frugality of the engine. If you are in need of more performance the 6 cyl. is available. But I would not trade off the milage.
Reliability- This is my 4th toyota, they just do not break. Moreover, they are built so that the periodic maintenance can be done by myself
Compared to other vehicles I have owned, the facility of self maintenance is considered in the design. Example: oil filter is at the front of the car, no need to crawl completely under to replace it. This is a car that does not appear to get broken in until over 50k miles. Cant say enough about Toyotas effort in this area.
Comfort- I've owned Cadillacs, they do ride better, at least the big ones, but then the Camry does not wallow down the road either. My wife never did figure out where the corners were on the Cad. The Camry is big enough to seat 4 people all day, much more comfortable than the Corolla, and I can never remember needing to seat 5 people.
Quality and Craftsmanship- car runs well, seams fit, materials do not deteriorate, paint lasts without fade or blemish, great mpg, size makes it easy to live with, nothing ever gets loose of falls off, no rust prone areas.
Update: 12/2010 This car still continues to run flawlessly. Nothing has broken in 115k miles. On second set of tires, probably will need rear brakes in the spring. Milage still 30+.
Update 03/2013 This car still continues to run without problems. Just got back from a 1500 mile trip to Texas, averaged 37 mpg. We're at 130k miles now. Had a rear window stick closed a while back, wouldn't open. Nothing broken, but had to readjust the window mounting bracked on driver's side rear.
That's the only issue so far, Everything still works.
Update 11/2013 Finally had an issue with this auto. At 144k, a belt tensioner got noisy. Also replaced the water pump at this time, however the pump had not yet failed. I have now purchased a new Camry (2013) and have passed the 2003 to a family member. Total unscheduled maintenance cost over 10 years: $500. So this review finally ends for me.
