Impact Teaching by Richard Howell Allen
I would recomment this book to anyone in the field of teaching. It is one of the most helpful books I have ever purchased. I attended a training given by the author, and would recommend that as highly! In the book, Mr. Allen uses the latest brain-based research and explains precisely how to put it into use in any classroom setting. All aspects of the learning environment, the learner, and best practices are integrated when designing a lesson. Some of the chapters included but are not limited to; music, movement, crest of the wave (optimum learning opportunity), giving effective directions, finding the best modality for learning, visuals, using engagers, and authentic assessments. Any new teacher could use this book to help him/her survive their first year of teaching. It should be required reading for students in the college of education!
