Internal Affairs DVD (2001) Richard Gere
    28 March 2019
    Gere makes an excellent heavy
I've liked this film ever since it's release, so I knew what I was buying; a sharp, intelligently written thriller about police corruption. Gere is terrific as a truly evil cop. The disc is in excellent condition and arrived promptly, well packed. Thanks!
Heaven's Gate by Michael Cimino | DVD | condition very good

Heaven's Gate is worth the time
What can I say about this famous film? It was trashed by the critics on its release, mostly I would guess, because of Cimino's hubris in taking eight monhts to shoot it. A few of the delaying issues included the prinicple cast members spending six weeks learning to roller skate for a couple of scenes; tearing down and rebuilding a complete street; Cimino ordering as many as 32 takes per scene; hand picking the hundreds of extras and making them and the full cast and crew wait for the 'right' cloudscape to appear. John Hurt was hanging around with nothing to do for so many days that he went off and made The Elephant Man with David Lynch whilst still on the Gate shoot. Perhaps no one noticed he was gone. Even so, this is a beautiful film, well worth the three hours, and sits in my classic film collection.
