A must for lovers of 'The Blind Side'
I was originally drawn to this book after reading 'The Blind Side' by Michael Lewis.
I'ts a lovely first hand accound of the story of Michael Oher by the family who plays a key role in changing his life. It's an easy read as each short chapter is told in the perspective of each of the Tuohy family members, with a chapter by Sandra Bullock and Michael Oher himself.
It's less a story about football and more about how Michael Oher 'fell' into the Tuohy's philosophy of charity and opportunity.
Written more or less chronologically with the majority of the chapters written by Leigh Anne, the book does tell the story of Michael, but also has strong emphasis on how to embrace a life of 'giving back'.
Although it borders a little on a 'self help' book, the true story is so fascinating and touching, it's worth putting cynicism aside long enough to enjoy the good intentions of the family and the book.
