Only an oil analysis would prove what actually happens by adding this additive but it is supposed to invigorate engine oil that has lost some of additives that were originally formulated and balanced when oil was new. Bringing all those additives that are part of engine oil formularion to a nice balance with one another is a difficult task for a home chemist, but I still believe this additive can help an old and worn oil if you for some reason still can't make a full fresh oil change.
