A GREAT PERFORMANCE IN BETTER THAN EVER SOUND.
Incredible improvement in sound overall, and clarity in particular.Also the voices sound much more defined. "End-of-side" distortion which was very audible on LP and even CD has been eliminated. The performance speaks for itself. One either likes these singers, or one doesn't. No quibbles from me here. These issue tend not to stay around for long, so, if you're interested, grab one while you can.

Fabulous Performance, Great Recording, Mediocre Pressing, Lots of clicks and pops
I have had this recording ever since it appeared as SXL 2256-57 63 years ago! Later incarnations on CD were disappointing, bright and shrill high's and lacking in bass. Here the sound is very good, although I do wonder if the producers had access to the original Decca tapes. I got the feeling that I could hear some turntable rumble in the background at times. Imagination? My main disappointment is the pressing. Two or three tracks cannot be enjoyed at all. I played the discs through Audacity so I could "see" the music and the clicks and pops were not to be believed from a new disc. Even after repeated cleaning with "non-touch" high-end cleaning machine there was not much improvement. On the other hand, the "Semiramide" track was super quiet and very as enjoyable as it always was. Why could this company not have been more careful with its product? Buyer beware.

GREAT RECORDINGS NEWLY REMASTERED
These are some of the most-loved recordings of Mozart's concertos for winds.Beautifully played and lovingly conducted by Karl Böhm with "his" Vienna Philharmonic. The recordings, always very warm and clear, have now been given extra clarity in the SACD format. Get these discs while they are still available. I'm sure this is the last time they will be issued on disc.
