0 of 1 found this helpful This is an excellent mobile phone, all the features one would expect, takes pictures and short videos, the functionality of this model as well as the other similar sanyo cell phones is very good, easy to use features, sturdy construction, design is well thought of, with the extended battery it has an ability to last for days without a charge, the only down side to these units is that the hing assembly tends to wear out first, seemingly premature compared to the rest of the phone, over all score is an A, sincerely schyck

1999 Crown Victoria P71 by Robert Schyck
2 of 3 found this helpful Purchased crown vic in January 08 for $3100.00, the mileage was 98,500, the vehicle was in good condition, now it is in very good condition.
As with any used vehicle there will be different issues that will need to be addressed, so accurate evaluation can't be placed on the model vehicle, only on that particular vehicle. There are many variables involved with the purchase of a used vehicle, certainly with a used police interceptor.
My experience with the purchase of this crown vic was educating and enjoyable, i utilized ebay for location and bidding. It must be realized that there will be additional cost to restore any used vehicle to the condition sout.
The appearance of these/this car is strikingly familiar; dark wheels, dark grille, spot light and its distinctive style make it appear to be police issue.
I installed new tires due to tire wear, instead of installing the high rated and expensive tires i opted for the same size 222x60x16 but went with a goodyear touring type tire, the ride is basically the same, handling feels similar. For every day driving there is no noticeable difference. However, if one were to utilize their crown vic for aggressive and track driving then the choice would be stock replacement.
Over all the 99 model is very similar to newer units, only slightly outdated. However by simply replacing the older style slatted grille for the honeycomb style basically updates the front of the vehicle, new headlights were also installed and the improvement in front end appearance is well worth $115.00. The older steel wheels became very dull, with the upgrade to trim rings it certainly added to the over all appearance, cost approx. $60.00. I liked the trim look but many people choose a full wheel cover. I also noticed that the crown vic seemed to be alittle bare in the front and rear end so i simply installed two well placed spuare reflectors that look really good and original in that respect, cost approx. $8.00.
In addition, i preformed a full tune up which included engine oil change using a high mileage quality oil and filter, transmission fluid change and filter, rear end differential oil change, quality fuel additive, platinum spark plugs, front end alignment, remove old steering and brake fluid and install quality fluids, radiator flush with an added quality cooling agent and some other minor maintenance.
Being that a new owner really does not know when any maintenance was preformed it makes very good sense to endeavor, this way one will know all routine service was completed. And on this vic everything i did, needed to be done. It takes some work but doing it yourself will save hundreds of dollars, cost of tune-up material would be approx. $140.00.
On this crown vic the brake rotors are worn to the degree that i can feel minor to moderate pulsating, this is a normal occurrence with these vehicles, since the wear is not bad i will replace at a later date.
My crown vic did need a substantial amount of detailing but with determination i completed the exterior and interior and the car looks great. Total cost of detailing material would be approx. $35.00.
The interior design is nice in these vic's, but alittle plain. With the simple installation of a center console it makes a big difference in available storage especially for drinks, and very convenient for an elbow rest. cost approx. $35.00. You will be lost without it
this is an excellent model, even tho it is quite outdated the software updates are free, so the essential elements are up to date, it functions real easy, with the calibration screen blatantly displayed, its great, unfortunately you cannot update the voices making this unit annoying in that regard, even so this unit does its job very well and is very user friendly, the mp3 is nice if that is your thing, the little speaker really sounds, I myself prefer the 4.3" garmin touchscreens, garmin has always been number one, their software is very easy & fun to use,........
