Perfect small travelling computer - yet poor wifi is frustrating
4 of 5 found this helpful I bought the mini because of it's small and modern form-factor especially for travelling on my motorcycle. It's really hard to get a decent computer in this size and the Asus fits the bill. I've had the T100 before and liked it, so this felt like the right upgrade. Screen is bright, battery life awesome, fast enough to be useful (my main machine is a Surface Pro 4) so I'm not getting frustrated with just browsing, photos and PDF work. What has been very frustrating was the poor wifi performance and reliability.
After the first day, I was over it! But after persisting to isolate the issue, I now have a functioning machine. I think a person who has no tech experience would struggle to sort it. The mini needed both the firmware and wifi adapter drivers to be updated which now provides a much stable machine. The wifi reception still is poor and still makes me somewhat disappointed, yet I still want to use this machine as I really can't find anything else to replace it with. I do like the machine, we will see how it goes after my next adventure.
