Coffee Maker Dilemma ! Loved what was "offered" BUT...
2 of 2 found this helpful Decided to buy this coffee maker because of the look and features. This coffee maker made good coffee, while it worked, and the features offered were excellent. The coffee maker is programmable. This unit also has: automatic two hour shut off, 12 cup decanter size, Pause n Serve, special cleaning cycle, fresh brew timer, brew strength selector, adjustable temperature warmer plate, water filtration, On/Off audible ready signal, dual water windows, and On/Off indicator light. The unit is basic Black with Metallic Red color accent. (Loved the color).
The biggest drawback with this coffee maker is the longevity. Due to the original expense (this coffee maker is a bit more pricey than some of the others) expectations were to have this unit for awhile. The cheap coffee makers seemed to last a long time. This more expensive one did not.
The first one purchased "died" after about three months. Because we liked all of the aspects of this coffee maker, we decided to purchase another one, hoping the first "death" was just a fluke. However, the second unit "died" just as fast. Each time, the clock/timer window began showing moisture build-up. Shortly thereafter, the unit stopped functioning. Losing two within such a short period of time was not a "good thing".
Writing the company was futile. We received no response. After the second coffee maker was sent to waste management, it was decided to go back to a "cheap" coffee maker. Wouldn't you know it... the cheap one has lasted over a year? Does it make better coffee? Does it have all the extra features of this coffee maker? Does the cheap one look good? No! No! And... No!
So therein is the coffee maker dilemma. Do you want to buy a more expensive unit to get a good cup of coffee, great features, looks nice, but dies an all too early death? Or should a cheaper, more dependable unit, be purchased, with hardly a feature to it's credit? Either way, you get a cup of coffee. We opted for a cheap, dependable unit and go to Starbucks when we want to splurge. That seemed like a much better choice than purchasing more coffee makers that were too quickly destined for the landfill!

How I Became A Pirate
2 of 2 found this helpful Liked: Illustrations were excellent and very "kid" oriented. It is a story a child with a good imagination would invent. We loved it. The main reason we purchased this book was due to David Shannon's name. His books are VERY popular with the children, in our area, and we already had all of his books.
Disliked: Nothing. It is an imaginary tale about Pirates and we had no problem with the content.
Jeremy Jacob goes to the beach with his family. While playing in the sand, Jeremy's imagination begins working and invents a wonderful tall tale adventure with a band of pirates. Jeremy's pirates come to shore and befriend Jeremy. After being recruited to help bury the pirate's treasure, Jeremy learns about pirate life. He learns pirate language, pirate manners, pirate "rules" and so forth. At first, Jeremy really liked all the "fun" stuff pirates were able to do like: eat only what they wanted, didn't have to take a bath or brush their teeth and didn't have to go to bed. But, Jeremy also discovered pirates: didn't tuck anyone into bed, read bedtime stories, and didn't give a good-night kiss. Being a pirate wasn't as fun as he thought it would be. After helping the pirates bury their treasure in Jeremy's backyard, the pirates were gone. And, Jeremy was ready to move onto what he really loved doing... playing soccer. This was a very cute book!
