Remo BJ-1100-H3 Banjo Head - Coated - High Collar - 11

Coated on the wrong side - not sure if it will work or not.

This "Coated" head is coated on the wrong side. The slightly-rough, "traction-ey" coating is on the BOTTOM. The TOP of the head is smooth and slick, . . . not what a 3-finger banjo picker needs. I'm having trouble getting the head to pull down as far as it should for a High Collar head, and I suspect that the coated underside is getting traction on the tone ring, and resisting the pull of the brackets. This will probably stretch the SIDES of the skin more than the TOP. So, to get the correct top-tension will require more bracket-tension than normal, and the head may tear or pull loose from the rim much earlier than a good quality head would do.
