Justice for Mr. Henry
Although one may be tempted to say that Mr. Kevin J. Hayes saturated his work with a dizzying amount of obscure references and perhaps is guilty of overburdening his thesis with ostentatious erudition, one cannot deny that his work has been exhaustively well researched. The last 100 pages of the book are devoted to citing his material... The crux of this work is to rectify the historical false impression that Mr. Patrick Henry was a largely illiterate and uneducated back-woodsmen. The author habitually continues to refer to Mr. Henry's personal library... (apparently there is a catalog detailing these specifics; when an inventory was done of his estate) The author goes on to defend his subject with a lawyer's calculation and a soldiers devotion. He argues that in fact, friend and founder, Mr Henry, was an intellectual and even implies perhaps he was an apologist for abolition albeit his possession of over at least 20 slaves. He uses letters, second-hand conversations, and antique correspondence to arrive to his conclusions. Extremely dry in some sections and I don't think it focused enough on his singular oratory ability, but then again this book was not written for the laymen I suspect. Simply put - although very wordy the book is written with an almost obsessive amount of detail that gives an excellent insight into WHO the man really was.

emotional and spellbinding - historically rich
I would be so bold as to describe the acting as superb while the acting is only outdone by the gravitas of the subject matter. With only minor discrepancies contradicting the historicity of the well documented life of Mr. John Adams - this mini-series will transport you into the mind and mentality of our founding fathers and does an excellent job at capturing the uncertainty of the times. (After all, any student knows how most of it ends) You will go from one disk and then hungrily to another - only to find yourself needing to find out what happens next... Mr. P. Giamatti and Mrs. L. Linney rendered an unparalleled performance and eternally crystallized their portrayals into my minds eye. Whenever I will think of Mr. and Mrs. Adams, I will forever recall their masterful performance. BRAVO!

In a word - exhilarating!
It should go without saying that I purchased this because I am an ardent fan of A.C. Doyle and most of the adaptations of his work. That being said, this installment is actually better then the first one, in that this movie features the incomparable Jared Harris as the diabolical Professor Moriarty. His portrayal of the character is played to perfection. This is the best version of James Moriarty, that I have ever seen. I can think of no higher praise as I own from Rathbone to Brett... and now of course, Mr. R.D. Jr.
