Improvement done.
If you stick the rubber piece into your ear canal, all you ear comes from the Hearing Aid amplifier. She common sound from such devices are much more pronounced in the high frequencies, above 3 or 4kHz, since those are the frequencies we lost easily with aging. The problem is that you lose the ability to hear the natural sounds from around you, including low frequencies up to 500Hz that make your world sound colorful. Other problem, when you stuff something into your ear you lose the ability to orientation based on the sound. Our ears format are very special and we learn as babies to locate the source of the sound, based on reflections of sound and how it delays or frequencies interpose among themselves when bouncing the ear before enter ear canal. With that piece of rubber stuffed into the ear canal you will only listen to the electronic sound, nothing else. Solution? EASY! I just poke a small hole (2mm diameter) in the rubber tube under where it flaps back its head. What happens? natural external sounds now enter the ear canal and mixes with the electronic amplified sounds.... perfect, much much much better than as manufactured. It doesn't need a wide hole, just a little hole. Initially I tried to do the hole with a red hot tick needle, but the silicone doesn't like hot temperature, the hole didn't open as one could expect to happen in a regular plastic. So I used a cuticle cut pliers, it has a very narrow point and can cut small pieces of the silicone. I work my way into it, until a small hole was visible, it was enough to enter sound in the silicone tube and into the ear canal. I discovered the sound was better when the silicone head was NOT stuffed into the ear canal, and I tough why it is better... external sound mixing with the electronic amplified. Make the hole and ear much better. Now you can adjust volume of "complement high frequency electronic amplified sound" with the natural sound from outside. Much better, really. Credits to myself... It seems strong enough to protect the LG G5 from a regular drop to the floor.
I care for my devices, and never drop, but I feel this cover to be enough to protect the LG G5 from an eventual drop. The side volume up/down button is a little bit hard to control, it could be more flexible, you really need to press hard to make volume up/down. Other than that, I am satisfied with the cover. It is thin, fashion (back) and looks professional, nothing fancy or too "teen". I would buy as a gift for a friend (please solve the volume up/down flexibility).
