Watch out, Eagle Creek, it's a slippery slope you're headed down!!
Neither better than expected nor awesome sauce, but ok good.
Not hiked with it yet, but thoroughly inspected.
I'm short-waisted, yet the most comfortable position for this pack on my back is with the straps fully extended. I do have broad shoulders, but normally so. I wonder if they carried the women's sizing a bit too far. I wonder how it will fit over a heavy jacket ... I may need to get my straps extended.
It has no compression straps, either inside or out. These have become so standard I didn't even think to check. It ought to, at least on the exterior, because it's a big pack, and may not always be filled. I have bought some 1.5 " elastic straps for luggage, I guess they're for in case your suitcase pops open. But I think one will work perfectly for exterior compression. And who knows, might be handy for other things too.
The lash points on the front of the pack a) are so tightly sewn down that it's difficult to get a carabiner through the loop. And b) basically, look cheap, as by the way, do the shoulder straps' webbed strapping portion.
I like the compartments. I like the print. I like the pack, really. But upon close inspection, it feels more like a well done but cheap knockoff of a real Eagle Creek bag.
I don't doubt it will serve my purposes well; basic Eagle Creek quality is there. But they really did skimp on this one, and it's a shame.
